Why I Built Cikgu Barrier

As a risk management trainer Malaysia, I spent years consulting across Oil & Gas, manufacturing, maritime, and aviation — and kept encountering the same problem in every organisation I worked with. Companies had all the right documents — HIRARC forms, incident reports, safety procedures — but the documents weren't changing anything. People were injured. The same incidents kept happening. Audits were passed. Nothing was fixed.

The root cause was always the same: organisations were training people to fill in forms, not to think about risk. A risk assessment was something you completed before a job started, not a tool that helped you understand what could actually go wrong. An incident investigation was a paper exercise, not a process that found real causes.

I started Cikgu Barrier because I believe that's a solvable problem — and that the solution starts with better training. The methods already exist — HIRARC, Bow-Tie Analysis, Tripod Beta — but most organisations have never been taught to use them properly. The training available in Malaysia is almost entirely compliance-focused: pass the exam, tick the box, file the certificate. Nobody is teaching people to actually apply the thinking.

As a risk management trainer Malaysia, training is what I do — and consultation is how I stay sharp. Working directly with organisations on their real risk and incident challenges keeps my programs grounded in what actually happens at the workplace, not what the textbook says should happen. Every program I build has one goal: walk away knowing how to do it, not just that it exists.

Cikgu

Malay

Teacher. The role that matters most — someone who builds genuine understanding, not just knowledge. Cikgu is what students call a teacher they respect.

Barrier

Risk Management & Incident Investigation

A barrier is any control that prevents a hazard from causing harm — or limits the damage when something goes wrong. Central to both Bow-Tie Analysis and Tripod Beta, barrier thinking is the foundation of how we approach risk and investigate incidents.

15 Years. Six Industries. One Specialisation.

As a risk management trainer Malaysia — recognised by industry peers as a pakar pengurusan risiko Malaysia — I've consulted across Malaysia's most demanding industries. The same core problems — weak risk thinking, poor incident investigation — show up everywhere. When you work with a risk management trainer Malaysia who has operated across these sectors, the examples and case studies hit differently.

What Makes This Different

Consultation-Informed, Not Academic

I train organisations and consult with them on their real challenges. That combination keeps the content sharp — the examples come from actual workplace problems, not textbook scenarios. You get training that reflects what really happens on the ground.

Outcomes First, Compliance Second

Compliance is a by-product of doing it right — not the goal. I design every program around what participants should be able to do after, not what documents they should be able to produce.

Built for Malaysian Workplaces

Every program this risk management trainer Malaysia delivers uses case studies, regulations, and examples from Malaysian industry. The language switches between English and BM where it helps. The content is grounded in DOSH and OSHA 2022, not UK or US standards.

Deep, Not Broad

As a risk management trainer Malaysia, I specialise in two things — Risk Management and Incident Investigation. I don't run 40 different courses. I run a focused set of programs that I've spent years refining. Depth beats breadth every time.

Who Works With a Risk Management Trainer Malaysia

Cikgu Barrier's programs are built for practitioners who need to apply what they learn — not students collecting certificates. If any of the following describes you or your team, you're in the right place.

HSE Managers & Coordinators

You're responsible for the organisation's risk framework and incident investigation process. You need a risk management trainer Malaysia who understands the operational pressures you're working under — not someone who will lecture your team on theory they already know.

HR, L&D & Procurement

You're sourcing a risk management trainer Malaysia for a company-wide program. You need someone credentialed, who delivers measurable outcomes, and whose content is grounded in Malaysian regulation — not adapted from a foreign curriculum.

Directors & Management

Under OSHA 2022, directors face personal liability for HSE failures. Working with the right risk management trainer Malaysia is not just a training investment — it's part of your legal duty of care. The OSH Obligations for Management program is built specifically for this group.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is in-house training available from a risk management trainer Malaysia?

Yes. Most Cikgu Barrier programs run in-house — at your facility, with your team, anchored to your actual workplace hazards and past incidents. In-house delivery gives your people training that is directly relevant to what they do, not a generic public course. It is also the most cost-effective format for teams of 10 or more.

What does a specialist risk management trainer Malaysia deliver that's different?

Most HSE training in Malaysia is compliance-focused — HIRARC forms, audit checklists, certificates. What Asyraf delivers as a specialist risk management trainer Malaysia is different: the thinking behind the tools. Risk assessment is taught as a decision-making process, not a form-filling exercise. Incident investigation is taught as a structured methodology, not a blame exercise. That distinction is what changes behaviour on the ground.

How much does it cost to hire a risk management trainer Malaysia?

Public workshop pricing for T1 programs starts at RM200 per participant for a half-day session. In-house delivery is typically RM1,500 per day. The right risk management trainer Malaysia is not the cheapest option — they're the option that produces a result your team can actually apply. Enquire directly for a quote tailored to your team size and objectives.

Is this training HRD Corp claimable?

HRD Corp registration is in progress. When registered, all programs will be fully claimable for Malaysian employers under the HRD Corp levy scheme. In the meantime, Asyraf holds internationally recognised certifications from the Energy Institute, UK and CGE Risk, Amsterdam — credentials that make him one of the most qualified risk management trainers Malaysia has access to for Tripod Beta and Bow-Tie methodology.
